This course provides an introduction to the Advanced Energy Design Guide for Small Retail Buildings, and its scope and benefits. It introduces the five stages of the AEDG integrated process and the activities associated with each stage. Design recommendations, in accordance with the climate zone, are also present in this course.

What You Will Learn

Upon completion of this course, you be able to:

Identify the purpose of the guide
Explain the scope of AEDG and the advantages of following AEDG principles and design process
Explain the overall process for designing, constructing, and operating energy-efficient buildings
Describe each stage of the AEDG design process and the corresponding activities
List responsibilities of various personnel in each AEDG design stage
List the energy goals and strategies for designing small retail buildings
Identify the eight climate zones defined by the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) and the design recommendations for each of the eight zones.
