The Inflation Reduction Act (IRA) of 2022 will make the biggest investment ever in climate and energy in the United States. This will allow the country to address the climate crisis, promote environmental justice, establish the United States as a leader in domestic clean energy production, and put the country on track to meet the climate objectives of the Biden Administration, including a net-zero economy by 2050.

To assist individuals with these new credits and incentives, the Internal Revenue Service (IRS) has hired 4,000 new customer service representatives to help answer phones and provide other services to taxpayers as part of its wider effort to improve its services. These new hires are part of the agency's implementation of the Inflation Reduction Act, which was funded in August and aims to improve IRS services over the next 10 years. The IRS plans to hire an additional 1,000 customer service representatives by the end of the year, bringing the total number of new hires in this area to 5,000. Almost all of their training will be completed by Presidents Day 2023, and the agency anticipates phones will be answered at a much higher level during the 2023 tax filing season.
