Did You Know Episode 33: Renewable Fuels are an Important Part of the Decarbonization Movement
Webcast Replay with CEU Certificate Option
Description
Electrification alone is not sufficient for achieving decarbonization. While electrification can help reduce emissions in some sectors, such as transportation and buildings, there are other sectors, such as industry and agriculture, that will require different approaches to achieve decarbonization.
Additionally, the electricity used to power electric vehicles, buildings, and other devices must come from low-carbon sources to be truly decarbonized. This means increasing the share of renewable energy sources, such as wind and solar, in the electricity mix and reducing the reliance on fossil fuels, such as coal and natural gas.
Furthermore, there are other sources of greenhouse gas emissions, such as methane from livestock and agriculture, that will also need to be addressed in order to achieve deep decarbonization. This may require changes to agricultural practices and land use, as well as the development of new technologies for reducing emissions.
Overall, achieving decarbonization will require a combination of different strategies and approaches, including electrification, renewable energy deployment, and changes to industrial processes and land use practices.
