Louvers 101

The purpose of this presentation is to provide participants with an introduction to louvers. To be discussed: the different louver types, designs and components, and materials and finishes. An outline of the parts of the overall system will also be reviewed.

At the end of this presentation attendees will be able to: Explain what a louver is according to AMCA Publication 501, as well as describe the five types of louvers, testing as outlined in ANSI/AMCA Standard 500-L, and how those tests are performed. Identify the various louver types, functions, and blade. Describe the features and options that affect performance of louvers. Explain louver performance terminology, including free area pressure, drop water penetration, and wind-driven rain rejection. Identify the advantage of wind driven rain louvers versus still air louvers.
