Basic Hydraulics

Without a basic understanding of the theories that dictate how hydraulic­ based equipment operates, workers may be placing themselves at risk. Using narrated 3D animations, this course provides a detailed introduction to basic hydraulic theory, actuators, motors, pumps controls and hydraulic circuits. 3D models and cutaways are used extensively to demonstrate these concepts.

 
As part of this course, trainees complete several Knowledge Checks to validate their training and identify subject areas where additional review/training are recommended.

  • Principles of hydraulic system energy transfer

  • Single­ and double­acting actuators

  • Hydraulic motors  
        
  • Actuator and motor failure                    
  •  Valves

  • Hydraulic system components

  • Hydraulic tubes, pipes, and hoses

  • Hydraulic fluids

  • Hydraulic system service and preventive maintenance

A certificate of completion will be provided to all participants who successfully complete the course.
