The US Department of Energy Building Science Education (BSE) Solution Center provides curated and free-to-use training materials on the fundamentals of building science.
In many of the training modules, a user will find learning objectives, lecture notes, relevant open-source websites, videos, book resources and homework/exam questions. All of the content in this 'course' can be downloaded and used freely by educators as they create or update their curriculum.

This includes information on how they operate to create hot water more efficiently than conventional gas/oil or electric element water heaters. Additionally, the training module delves into the benefits of HPWHs for both the consumer and the seller. Lastly, it gives examples of how to calculate the yearly operational costs of using a HPWH in comparison to other conventional water heaters
